Campus Ministry

 School Community of Faith
Saint Francis School Campus Ministry program fosters a school community of faith. We practice spirituality through:

 Prayer
“Let us remember we are in the presence of God”. The prayer life at St. Francis School is alive and well setting the tone of each day, addressing concerns and celebrating graced moments, putting into perspective the challenges and joys of life. Student Ministers prepare and lead the school in Morning Prayer daily. As our students move from class to class they begin each session with prayer. Our prayer life at St. Francis School sets a rhythm to our day and teaches us that God is really with us!

 Liturgy
Throughout the school year the School gathers together to celebrate the liturgical seasons, our Franciscan tradition, and to support each other in prayer.

October 4 FEAST DAY CELEBRATION honors our patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi and the Sisters of St. Francis who model their lives and their work after his example.

 Retreats
Recognizing the value of self reflection and prayer each Middle School and High School student, Faculty and Staff member is required to make an annual St. Francis School Retreat. Class retreats are designed to build community address issues age appropriate to the faith development of our 6th – 10th graders. Juniors and seniors may select one of 3Themed day retreats, a busy students retreat (Individual spiritual direction) and or the 3 day ENCOUNTER Retreat. With direction from the Campus Minister retreats are planned and led by Student Ministers.

 Peer ministry and leadership training
Two Modules a cycle are dedicated to the “Leadership in Ministry” class taught by the Campus Minister. In this class students learn group dynamics and facilitation skills. They create activities and games that will engage their peers in the topics of retreats. Students are engaged in their own personal reflection and spiritual development within the context of a small faith based classroom community.

 Pax Aloha
The Saint Francis School Pax Aloha Service Learning Program is based on the mutual sharing of gifts between students and the face of Christ in those they minister to. It seeks to expose students to a possible way of life following in the footsteps of St. Francis and the Gospels. Each student in the program must complete 25 hours of service for every high school year at Saint Francis by December of their senior year. The service may be volunteered at any non-profit agency.
